Some Thanksgiving thanks (and 3 great reads)
Holiday mail from The Argument
Happy Thanksgiving!
I hope you are enjoying some time off with loved ones. The Argument team is scattered across the country, also enjoying some much-needed rest.
My main goal today is to make sure my stuffing gets more compliments than any other dish. It’s a variation of this recipe.
If you’re looking for something to read between courses, here are a few pieces to revisit:
Kelsey Piper’s interesting experiment to find out if AI chatbots respond differently in different languages.
My qualified defense of the #GirlBoss.
Before I sign off for the holiday, I also just want to say thank you. The Argument was a bet on all of you, on the idea that there are readers who want rigorous, open, and good-faith debate. It was a bet that readers are willing to have their views challenged and desperate for a place where a fierce defense of individual rights could meet tech-optimism and a positive-sum view of the economy.
You make this possible. If you haven’t yet, please consider becoming a paid subscriber. Paid subscriptions are how we can keep doing ambitious polls, long arguments, and weird experiments in public.
Sending you all my best, and a fresh new piece will hit your inbox tomorrow morning!

The essays published here since I became a subscriber in mid-to-late August have been thought-provoking and informative by way of not only their content, by precisely because of the thinking they provoke. They've inspired a high standard of well-considered and well-stated replies which have extended their value.
For this, it's fair to claim the first three months of The Argument as a great success.
May there be many, many more months of inspiring essays and thoughtful discussion to come…
Happy Thanksgiving thanks for the daily dose of wonderful reading.
