Has affirmative action gone too far? Should we abolish internet anonymity? Is liberal hypocrisy worth defending?
Welcome to The Argument, a weekly podcast from yours truly and Matthew Yglesias.
Matt and I have been on many podcasts together, back in the days of The Weeds where we first libbed out about zoning reform, to when I interviewed him at The Atlantic for Good on Paper, and just last year when we talked about liberalism here at The Argument.
We have a lot in common—particularly when it comes to housing and economic policy—but that makes it all the more interesting how much we tend to disagree.
So instead of a Crossfire-style debate show where two people who have no overlapping interests yell at each other and make you feel bad about the world, we’re doing something different.
The Argument is a show where two friends, well, argue about politics, policy, and whatever else is on their minds.
It’s a debate show for people who want to get into the weeds and are turned off by screaming matches and softball interviews where everyone just agrees with each other. Each week, one host argues a distinctive point of view — armed with facts and research, not just pundit bluster — and then Matt and I hash it out.
New episodes post every Thursday, starting April 9.
